In their latest opus: Scod , Yon and Gatesy strap on their scabbards to embark on a musical theatre work of exquisite sophistication and hilarity that delves deep into the terrifying, tantalizing, geektastic world of Dungeons & Dragons.
Tripod versus the Dragon combines classic old-school character comedy and a bunch of great songs with liberal references to the great operas, the bible (all three testaments: old, new and Superstar) and the other bible: the D&D Player’s Handbook. It’s the Ring Cycle meets the Three Stooges meets stats.
Featuring special guest – genre-busting singer and Triple J Next Crop artist – ELANA STONE as ‘the Dragon’
Directed by NEILL GLADWIN

Come and see the biggest, most fire breathin’ monster of a show. It’s a gripping tale of love and twenty sided dice, with a backpack full of great songs, and it returns from its US premiere to the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2010. Here’s the trailer:
Apparently being able to quote every line from “Tron” the movie doesn’t actually qualify you as internet savvy any more. So we’ve decided to overhaul our operation and get one of them new fangled internets. All the following is now Live (the state of being, not the band). Some of it you may know about, some not. Bookmark it. Widget it. Watch it. Befriend it.
Now. Content. Apparently all we need is a fancy fandangled tricorder to make little movies and post them up, and then we’ll be kickin it with Lily Ashton or whatever. On that: Apple, if you’re out there, i know we’ve done gigs for Microsoft before but if you give us free iphones we promise we’ll quote Really high the next time they call.
We’re busy at work on the Dungeons and Dragons Opera – you know, writing, singing, acting, not dancing. If it has dancing we can’t call it an Opera. Then it has to be called a Musical. Our next project is a Ballet so we can satisfy our dancing needs.
In between there’ll be some touring – so if you live in the bottom right hand corner of Australia, come along. Mt Gambier, Horsham, Bendigo, Ballarat, Warrnambool, Wollongong, Shoalhaven, Wagga,Canberra, Albury, Hobart , Burnie, Launceston, Devonport, Warragul, Shepparton, Geelong and Sale. Have a look in the gigs section for details.
Hey if you like Tripod or Dungeons and Dragons or both (though I can’t possibly imagine you might), we’re doing what we’re calling the Kitchen Table Version of our new show Dungeons and Dragons the Opera. It’ll have all the songs, the story, the bickering (some as part of the story, some not) and guest performer Melissa Madden Gray. Just not the spectacular scenery, props and general polish.
Scod plays a wizard, Yon plays a Priest and Gatesy plays a fighter who wants to be a bard. It’s on at the Fairfax at the Arts Centre in Melbourne. 8-11 November. You can book here: http://www.theartscentre.com.au/whats-on/event.aspx?id=1899
